Enchanted Forest

Another theme park vacation! Today (August 2 2026) we went to the Enchanted Forest in Salem, OR!

Started almost singlehandedly by Roger Tofte in the 60's, Enchanted Forest is a very charming local theme park. The majority of it is sculpted concrete buildings and fun storybook scenes (some with simple animatronics) but there are a few rides as well, which I didn't know until we got there!

My favorite parts were the Haunted House (of course, it's where all the Pepper's Ghosts are!), the log ride, and the many little animatronics scattered around the park. We also saw their current theater show, Pinocchio, and it was very silly and fun (we are also actors so we love to support the performers and play along).

I didn't take many photos and videos sonce we were in the moment, so I would recomend this video from The Carpetbagger for a full walkthrough, it isn't long! If you're in the area check it out, it's a little pricey for entry and ride tickets, $30 per adult and $3-5 per ride, so bring your own food.

Peppers Ghosts list (as far as I can tell)

  • Seven Dwarves Mine had a small display with the witch's magic mirror that shifted from showing her reflection to the mirror's face
  • Graveyard scene had some floating whisps, not sure if they were projected Peppers Ghosts or a lit skrim of some sort
  • Guy in the mine was a very nice effect, very clean and strong, though he wasn't moving when we were there
  • Head in a box that shifted from a young woman to old, the lighting was too bright though so the edge of the glass was really easy to see
